Anderson Velasco Velasquez Captures Howard Munson Scholarship

Anderson Velasco Velasquez isn’t shy about putting his head down and engaging in hard work. He is willing to take on challenging, but delicate projects that require careful analysis and problem-solving along with some elbow grease to complete. The Huntington High School senior is this year’s recipient of the Howard H. Munson Memorial Scholarship Award, which honors one of the town’s legendary business figures.

Nicolas Francis Presented Patrick McCourt Scholarship

The Patrick Thomas McCourt Memorial Scholarship was created following a frightening accident that saddened the community when word of it spread. A member of Huntington High School’s Class of 2006, the 22-year old was killed September 17, 2011 after being struck by two cars while walking along Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook.

The 30th annual Huntington High School GrandFriends senior-senior prom was a festive afternoon for both the 100 senior citizens participating in this year’s event and the dozens of teenagers who turned out to interact with the residents of Sunrise Assisted Living on West Hills Road and the Town of Huntington’s Senior Center.

The Huntington girls’ lacrosse team raced out of the starting gate and built what proved to be an insurmountable lead to topple mighty Massapequa and lift the Blue Devils to their first Long Island championship in 30 years, 12-8 on Tuesday at Adelphi University.
