BLUE DEVILS GOLF STUNS TOP-SEEDED SACHEM, ADVANCES TO COUNTY FINAL FOUR!

Six Seniors, One Mission: A County Championship

In a monumental day for Huntington athletics, the Huntington Blue Devils boys golf team kept its county championship dreams alive with a stunning playoff victory over Sachem, the No. 1-ranked team in Suffolk County entering the postseason.

And make no mistake, this was a statement win.

Despite completing an undefeated regular season and capturing the League Championship, the Blue Devils found themselves relegated to the No. 8

But if there is one thing opponents should know about these Blue Devils, it’s this: Give them a chip on their shoulders, and they become a very dangerous team.

Huntington wasted little time proving that point.

Leading the charge was Co-Captain Jack Corcoran, who delivered a brilliant one-over-par 37 to set the tone for the afternoon. Not far behind was Huntington’s not-so-secret weapon, Michael Tucker, affectionately known to his teammates and coaches as the team’s “X-Factor.” Tucker came through when it mattered most, firing an outstanding two-over-par 38 in one of the biggest matches of the season.

Co-Captains Will Donaghy and Brady LaCosta provided the steady, determined play needed in the heart of the lineup, while Joe Perotti battled throughout his round to help keep the Blue Devils in contention.

And then there was Graham Gooch.

With the match hanging in the balance, Gooch delivered the kind of clutch putting performance that wins championships. Time after time, faced with pressure-packed comeback putts, Gooch calmly found the bottom of the cup, helping seal one of the most memorable victories in recent Huntington golf history.

Six players. Six contributions. One unforgettable team victory.

NEXT STOP: THE FINAL FOUR

The Blue Devils now advance to the Suffolk County Final Four which takes place today at 9:00 a.m. at Pine Hills Golf Club, where they will square off against No. 4 seed Westhampton in a highly anticipated semifinal showdown.

The winner will advance to the County Championship match against the survivor of the other semifinal, featuring Sayville and Smithtown East.

For Huntington, the stakes could hardly be higher.

This is a team composed entirely of six seniors, young men who have spent years developing their games, building friendships, and learning what it means to compete for one another. Now, with their high school golf careers approaching the finish line, they have an opportunity to accomplish something truly special.

Expect plenty of golf balls to be struck this weekend as the Blue Devils fine-tune their games and prepare for what could be the defining moment of their high school athletic careers.

They have the talent. They have the experience. They have the chemistry.

And perhaps most importantly, they have the belief.

The Blue Devils are two victories away from a County Championship.

And after knocking off the county’s top-ranked team, one thing is certain:

Nobody should underestimate Huntington now.
