Southdown Stars Make Principal & Teachers Proud

As Southdown Primary School races toward the finish line of the 2025/26 school year, Principal Jill Amott-Erwig took some time out to celebrate a group of outstanding boys and girls who have been working very hard this spring.

Southdown honored its Stars of the Months of April and May with Splash Awards, which is only fitting since the school’s mascot is a dolphin. The youngsters were recognized for their overall effort and performance in classrooms and all around the building and grounds

Ms. Amott-Erwig along with Southdown’s faculty and support staff members are all proud of the honorees, who shined through the months of April and May.

April’s honorees include:

Universal Pre-Kindergarten: Gabrielle Martinez, Ethan Acosta Herrera; Kindergarten: Abigail Carey, Samuel Lovelace, Emauel Flores Lopez, Farrah Jamaluddin; First Grade: Brianna Canas Gamez, Maya Motley, Jeffrey Escobar Amaya; Second Grade: Ashley Valeriano Ponce, Bryson VanBrakle, Susan Dominguez Gonzalez, Sofia Mejia Santos; Third Grade: Austin Donovan, Dereck Ruiz Ruiz, Dylan Coreas Ticas, Cayla Serrano

May’s honorees include:

Universal Pre-Kindergarten: Eunice Coreas Manueles, Henry Tomkins; Kindergarten: Owen Holtz, Alison Hernandez Martinez, Emely Avila Figueroa, Teodor Olivas; First Grade: Alex Hernandez Hernandez, Julia Kozak, Jasiah Allen; Second Grade: Jasmine Garcia Escobar, Emily Egan, Erick Pineda Castro, Marianela Licona Santos; Third Grade: Levin Ortez Villatoro, Raven Krygier, Dereck “Nico” Guevara Gamboa, Justin Velasquez
