Summer Driver Ed Program Dates Announced

Registration for the Huntington School District’s summer driver education program is coming soon. A series of important dates and related information has been announced. The program is open to any student who has reached the age of 16 by June 30 and holds a valid learner’s permit.

The program is limited to the first 32 students who file an application and register. The order of registration will be determined by time stamped emails send to driversed@hufsd.edu. Michael Marinello will be the classroom instructor.

The following is the application schedule:

• Monday: June 15; HHS Incoming Seniors, Class of 2027; Email sent between 6 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.

• Tuesday: June 16; HHS Incoming Juniors, Class of 2028; Email sent between 6 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.

• Wednesday, June 17; HHS Incoming Sophomores, Class of 2029; Email sent between 6 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.

• Thursday, June 18; All others/non-residents; Email sent between 6 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.

The application email sent during the above window must include a clear picture of the application form. Once an applicant receives a response to their email they will be able to register in the athletic office (Room 122) on Monday, June 22 beginning at 2:30 p.m.

The course will run from July 1 through July 23. A makeup class will be held on July 24. Lecture classes will held Monday through Friday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.-12 noon. Students will choose one session per day. Students must attend all days of lecture. In car driving will also be conducted on Monday through Friday in 90 minute blocks opposite the lecture period.

The cost of the program is $650 for district residents and $675 for non-residents. Checks should be made payable to Huntington High School Driver Education Program.
