Chloe Donovan has danced her way into everyone’s heart at Huntington High School. The junior is an accomplished ballet dancer and is also involved in a long list of school organizations and activities all while earning stellar grades.

“I started dancing when I was three years old and have been at Lynch School of Ballet for ten years,” Ms. Donovan said. “I have attended ballet summer intensives the past six years in New York City, Philadelphia and Boston, and this year in Seattle.”

The teenager is co-captain of the Huntington Highsteppers, the high school’s competitive dance team and she also plays on the Blue Devil varsity girls’ golf team.

“I chose to audition for Pacific Northwest Ballet this year because it is one of the top ballet schools in the country,” Ms. Donovan said. “It is a professional ballet company and their summer program provides excellent instruction. I felt this program would offer significant growth and be a great experience getting to spend five weeks in Seattle this summer. I will also be attending a shorter program before at the Indiana University Ballet Summer Intensive, which is the top collegiate ballet program in the country.”

Ms. Donovan plays cello in the high school’s chamber orchestra. She also founded a not for profit Community Ballet Collective where she teaches a weekly ballet class at Tri-CYA. Many of the participants are students in Huntington UFSD.

“I am excited to apply to college and hope to find a school with both strong academics and a good ballet program,” Ms. Donovan said. “There aren’t a lot of schools that have ballet curriculum, but there are a few on my list that do offer both that I would be very excited to attend. I would like to major in neuroscience or psychology.”

Ms. Donovan has held membership in, and even leadership positions with, the high school’s Grandfriends club, Key Club, A World of Difference club and Natural Helpers. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Latin Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. Her weighted academic grade average exceeded 102 in the most recent marking period.

“I have loved my time at Huntington High School so far,” Ms. Donovan said. “My teachers have been so supportive and my courses interesting and engaging. They’ve really helped shape what I want to pursue beyond high school. I love our community at Huntington and could not have asked for a better high school experience. Our school offers so many opportunities to get involved, give back, and connect with each other. I’m very grateful for everything the high school has provided.”
