World Language Honor Societies Induct New Members

Huntington High School’s world language honor societies are time honored organizations committed to recognizing student excellence and engaging in community service activities.
The French, Italian, Latin and Spanish honor societies held their annual induction ceremonies last week, welcoming dozens of new members who are mastering a second or even a third language.
Spanish Honor Society President Cecilena Monge Moreira served as the evening’s master of ceremonies. Italian Honor Society President Jolie Weinshreider presented the event’s welcoming speech.
Society faculty advisors Dr. Gina Trigian Molvaut (French), Natalia Kopshti (Italian), Kristin Fortunato (Latin) and Nadine Araoz (Spanish) and department Director Judy Moroff looked on with pride as the teenagers recited their respective society’s pledge before membership certificates were presented to the newly inducted scholars.
The Latin Honor Society inducted Isaiah Bynum, Anthony Centrone, Hennie England, Bryce Gilroy, Shealyn Gilroy, Cassidy Harris, Logan Mazure, Olivia Puccio, Darcy Rimkunas, Spencer Sturges and Zachary Vidota.
The Italian Honor Society welcomed Angela Abbatiello, Ali Brady, Bryanna Chavez Valencia, Kayla Hernandez, Asa Sachs, Nicolina Santoli, Nayeli Uman Bustillo and Alexa Wasoski.
The French Honor Society opened its arms to Harper Cohn, Dayana Cruz Melendez, Lindsay Gamaz, Carmem Gonzalez Robles, Evolet Herrera Moreira, Luisa Mackey, Juliana Musun Trujillo and Bennett Wagner.
The Spanish Honor Society brought Patricia Abruzzo, Elizabetta Arra, Zoe Chiclacos, Rosa Elizabeth Chue Argueta, Charlie Cirlincione, Izabelle Colato, Eshmal Fatima, Oliver Frintzilas, Mia Giugliano, Dylan Goodwin, Keyri Gudiel Ramirez, Brianna Jimenez Leon, Miranda Kincaid, Cecilia Lee, Gabriel MacManus, Karly Maldonado, Elliot Manu, Emily McCarthy, Caroline Mitek, Jeancarlos Murillo Marroquin, Perla Nativi Ulloa, Leila O’Toole, Elena Prior, Campbell Proctor, William Respass, Quinn Rinaldi, Henry Schmid and Caitlin Wegielnik.
There was a vocal performance in French by Alexandra Boeckmann and a stunning violin performance by Matthew Jimenez.
Following the ceremony participants and their parents enjoyed refreshments in the auditorium lobby as they socialized and posed for photos during a reception that capped off a night recognizing exceptional academic achievement.
