Blue Devil Seniors Presented with Team Awards

Huntington High School’s 58th annual senior athletic awards ceremony is now in the history books. Dozens of coaches presented awards to their top seniors on three dozen varsity teams.

The awards ceremony was held before a crowd of about 300 in the high school auditorium. Teacher Michael Schwendemann served as the master of ceremonies while wearing a Huntington baseball jersey. All but a handful of seniors and coaches were missing.

Superintendent Beth McCoy and Principal Rochelle C. Brown both spoke briefly and also presented a set of awards. Deputy Superintendent Christopher Hender and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rubie Harris also presented awards as did Assistant Principal Gamal Smith.

The ceremony was unique; unlike any other held at the school for other organization. Students and parents loved it. It ran about one hour, fifty minutes in length and included vocal performances by Lena Sullivan and Lily Wasoski.

Greenlawn Farms located on Pulaski Road in Greenlawn donated three trays of cookies and several cases on miniature water bottles. The awards were custom made for the Blue Devils by Trophy Hut in Rocky Point.
