Huntington Senior Lily Wasoski Captures Scholarship Awards

June 12, 2026

Lily Wasoski is the Blue Devil athletic program’s good luck charm. Every time she sings prior to a game, Huntington High School wins. But more than any charm, she boasts incredible talent and an absolutely spectacular voice. The senior is an exceptional vocalist and stage actress. She’s a great student, too, and recently captured several prestigious scholarships.

Huntington vocalist supreme Lily Wasoski.

Ms. Wasoski plans to study classical voice performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. “The key to my success has been staying true to who I am and what I want to do,” the teenager said. “I never let anyone make me feel ‘less than’ and discourage me from doing what I love to do. I have most enjoyed all of the opportunities the school provides for music; there are so many ensembles for every instrument and it has been so fun making friends and performing through the music program at Huntington.”

She was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education during luncheon at the Irish Coffee Pub. “There were over 50 applicants and only 15 recipients were selected based on All-Eastern, All-State and county experiences in collaboration with NYSSMA scores across multiple areas,” explained Huntington UFSD Director of Fine & Performing Arts Dr. Robert J. Wottawa II.

“I was honored to present the NYSCAME scholarship to Lily Wasoski on behalf of the Huntington High School music department,” said Charles Colasanti, Huntington’s choral director. “As an active member and leader in band, choir, and Tri-M, Lily has proven her dedication to and love for music. We all appreciate Lily's positive energy and bright smile as she enters our classrooms, and we cannot wait to hear how well she does at Boston Conservatory.”

“Lily is a leader within our department and will be missed,” Dr. Wottawa said. “We are so proud of Lily and her dedication to music instruction, performances, and perseverance for her success through her achievements. Our teachers have had a tremendous impact on Lily and her voice to pursue music at Boston Conservatory.”

A Blue Devil marching band drum major for three years, Hunting-Tony Award recipient and two-time All-State vocalist, Ms. Wasoski is graduating near the top of Huntington’s Class of 2026. She has been dual enrolled in a special program Huntington UFSD subscribes to at the Long Island School for the Arts in Syosset.

Ms. Wasoski recently completed her LI School for the Arts program and graduated. “I won the Dr. Dillon Music Scholarship,” she proudly exclaimed. “It’s a scholarship only given out to LIHSA students pursuing a higher education in music and the funds are provided by the Billy Joel Foundation. Every year they choose a student from LIHSA to receive a $10,000-plus tuition-relief scholarship, and this year I was that student! Billy Joel was actually the one to finalize the decision and he awarded me with a $25,000 scholarship for my tuition for Boston Conservatory. It was a surreal moment for sure.”

It’s just one of the many “surreal moments” that the talented young woman will be experiencing in her life.
