Jean Riboul and Kymora Dorvilus captured Empire Automotive Group Scholar-Athlete Awards at the 58th annual Blue Devil senior athletic award ceremony in the Huntington High School auditorium.
The Empire Automotive Group Scholar Athlete Awards were provided by Michael Brown, a 1987 Huntington graduate who played on the Blue Devil football team and won All-County honors with the track team. He went on to obtain undergraduate and graduate degrees at Boston University and has been in the automotive business his entire professional career.
Standing before a crowd of about 325, which included district executives, building administrators, parents and senior athletes, Deputy Superintendent Christopher J. Hender presented the Empire Automotive awards, which include $500 stipends and attractive plaques.
Jean Riboul compiled a wonderful academic record while starring on the football, winter track and spring track and field teams. He garnered post-season awards during every season and also assumed leadership positions, including captain. He intends to compete in track and field at Morgan State University in Baltimore.
Ms/ Dorvilus is also a great student. She played on the Blue Devil volleyball and flag football teams, danced with the Highsteppers and served on the executive board of the Varsity Club, which represents student athletes in the athletic department. She has won awards for her sharp athletic play. She will attend Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.
