Jefferson’s Positive Behavior Committee Leads Celebration
July 15, 2026
Jefferson Primary School’s PBIS Committee helped coordinate a schoolwide celebration on the last day of the school year to recognize and congratulate every student for following the Jefferson Promise and earning PBIS tickets throughout the year.
A PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Committee is a school leadership team responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring a school's positive behavior framework. The committee relies on data to build universal, targeted, and intensive behavioral supports for all students.
“Thanks to our students’ positive choices, kindness, and responsible behavior, we collected thousands of PBIS tickets,” Principal Valerie Capitulo-Saide said. “To celebrate this accomplishment, teachers showered the air with the saved tickets while students danced, laughed, and enjoyed the exciting moment together. After the celebration, students worked as a team to clean up the tickets, demonstrating responsibility and pride in caring for their school.”
Students had a great time celebrating as the year ticked down to the summer vacation. “We are incredibly proud of our Jefferson Jaguars for making positive choices every day and helping to create a safe, respectful, and caring school community,” Md. Capitulo-Saide said.
Jefferson Primary School’s faculty and support staff has made it their mission to educate students by effectively teaching an enriched body of knowledge through the active participation of all students, building upon their unique talents and abilities to produce creative, self-assured, responsible citizens who are capable of critical thought and action.
Jefferson currently educates about 350 students from kindergarten through third grade. In addition to teaching the 3 R’s, all students enjoy experiences in art, music and physical education. Students also attend weekly story telling sessions in the library and make excellent use of the technology available to them in the library, classrooms and media center.
