Jolie Weinschreider is one of Huntington High School’s premier three sport athletes, excelling in multiple uniforms while also compiling an academic grade average in excess of 105. The senior is headed to Rutgers University to play NCAA Division I lacrosse on a scholarship.
“I chose Rutgers not only for its lacrosse program and supportive coaching staff, but also for its beautiful campus and amazing School of Arts and Sciences,” Ms. Weinschreider said. “From the moment I visited, I could see myself having the best four years of my life.”
The teenager plans to pursue an academic major in psychology. “I hope to work with children in the future, either as a social worker or psychologist,” Ms. Weinschreider said.
The senior has played on Huntington’s varsity girls’ soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams, winning awards in all three of them. She’s active in the high school’s after school club program and she has completed a long list of honors and Advanced Placement courses.
The articulate Ms. Weinschreider has served as team captain during the fall, winter and spring seasons. She comes awfully close to the definition of a “born leader” and is well-liked and respected by both teammates and coaches.
‘The best highlight of my time at Huntington High School has been winning both the county and Long Island girls’ lacrosse championships,” Ms. Weinschreider said. “Those two days were the most unforgettable moments of my high school career. Beyond that, playing soccer, basketball and lacrosse alongside my best friends has truly made my high school experience.”
Ms. Weinschreider has a wonderful sense of humor and she spends portions of every day laughing. She’s also fiercely competitive, playing hard until the final whistle. That “take no prisoners” style has helped lead the Blue Devils to dozens of victories in three different sports over the past five years. Yes, that’s right; the teenager was promoted to the varsity level as an eighth grader.
“My time at Huntington has been one of the best experiences I could have asked for,” Ms. Weinschreider said. “I am grateful for the lifelong friendships I have made and for the teachers who care about their students. I am proud to be a Blue Devil and I am especially proud to wear a Blue Devil Jersey in three sports. It will always be a part of who I am.”
