Jefferson Kids Build & Create Structures for Special Day

February 24, 2026

As Jefferson Primary School eagerly counted down to the 100th Day of School on the Friday before the mid-winter vacation, teachers Julie Dooher and Elaine Leon teamed up to create an engaging, hands-on learning experience for every student in the building.

“Together, they designed exciting opportunities for students to build and create structures using 100 objects,” Jefferson Principal Valerie Capitulo-Saide said. “Classrooms were filled with energy and creativity as students eagerly counted to 100, problem-solved, and engineered imaginative designs. The activity not only strengthened number sense and counting skills but also encouraged collaboration, perseverance, and joyful learning.”

The Jefferson School students were highly motivated and completely engaged. “It was a fantastic way to celebrate 100 days of learning at Jefferson Primary School,” Ms. Capitulo-Saide said.

“The 100th day of school will vary by school, but most schools celebrate in the month of February,” according to Action for Healthy Kids. “This day marks being in school for 100 days and is a great time to engage students, families and the community in planning healthy and fun activities at school and at home.”

With more than four months of the 2026/27 school year remaining, there’s still plenty of learning experiences in store for students and lots of fun days ahead, too.
