Budget Vote & Election on Tuesday, May 19 from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

April 21, 2026

The Huntington School District will hold its annual budget vote and election for two trustees on Tuesday, May 19 at Huntington High School in the gymnasium from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The 12-hour window for voting has been streamlined for several reasons, including so as not to interfere with the arrival of more than 50 buses and 250 cars and the start of classes.

Eligibility to vote requires the voter to be registered either with the Suffolk Board of Elections or the school district and to have been a resident of the district for a minimum of 30 days.

Absentee/Early Mail Ballots:

Applications may be secured from the District Clerk at the Administrative Offices, 50 Tower Street, Huntington Station, at least seven days before the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or up to the day before the vote if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or to the agent named in the application. Absentee/early mail ballots must be returned by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19 for them to be counted in the 2026 budget vote and election.

Inspection of Budget:

The public may inspect a copy of the proposed budget on the district website (www.hufsd.edu), at the District Clerk’s office (District Office, 50 Tower Street), at any school building on school days between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. or at either branch of the Huntington Public Library.

More information on the budget and capital reserve fund proposition can be found on the district website at www.hufsd.edu.
