Huntington UFSD Named a 2025–2026 NYSPHSAA School of Excellence

Huntington UFSD is proud to announce that its varsity athletic program has been named a 2025–2026 School of Excellence by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA), recognizing the outstanding academic achievement of Huntington student athletes.

The School of Excellence designation celebrates schools where at least 75 percent of the varsity teams earn NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team recognition during the school year. To earn the Scholar-Athlete Team Award, the average grade point average of the top 75 percent of a team’s roster must be at least 90 percent.

This achievement reflects the commitment of Huntington student athletes to excellence both in the classroom and in competition. It also recognizes the dedication of the coaches, teachers, families and athletic staff who encourage and support students as they balance the demands of academics, athletics and extracurricular activities.

“Being recognized as a School of Excellence is a wonderful accomplishment and a reflection of the dedication of our student athletes,” said Superintendent Beth McCoy. “Our students continue to demonstrate that success on the playing field goes hand in hand with a commitment to academic excellence. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, discipline and perseverance demonstrated by our athletes, and we congratulate them and all of the adults who support their success.”

The recognition underscores Huntington UFSD’s commitment to education-based athletics, where participation in sports provides students with opportunities to develop teamwork, leadership, perseverance, responsibility and a strong sense of community.
