Huntington Invited to Participate in Traffic Safety Contest

The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee is having a Poster Challenge for Junior and senior high school students. Huntington High School students are eligible to participate even if they aren’t currently enrolled in the driver ed program.

The purpose of the contest is to get traffic safety awareness out to younger drivers. They can create and submit a poster, giving them a chance to win their artwork on billboards throughout New York State, and a ThinkFast presentation for their school.

Poster challenge submissions will close on November 20 at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced shortly after the challenge closes.

The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee coordinates traffic safety activities in the state and shares useful, timely information about traffic safety and the state's highway safety grant program.

The Safety Programs Group is responsible for programs that make New York State's roadways safer for all highway users, young and old. The staff implements and coordinates new programs and is responsible for oversight of ongoing traffic safety activities. The staff oversees New York State’s highway safety programs: STOP-DWI, traffic restraint, pedestrian and wheel sport safety, all areas of safe driver behavior, police traffic enforcement and traffic records management. Program Representatives provide local government officials, community groups and safety organizations with support in creating highway safety programs and projects as well as with grant development and administration.
