Corcoran and Donaghy Set to Take Their Games to Division I Golf

The Huntington High School boys’ golf program has plenty to be proud of as two of its standout golfers, Jack Corcoran and Will Donaghy, have committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the NCAA Division I level.

Corcoran will continue his golf career at Fordham University, while Donaghy will head to Stonehill College, where he will begin his collegiate career in the fall of 2027. Having two Division I-bound golfers leading the same Huntington lineup is a tremendous accomplishment for the players and a proud moment for the Blue Devils golf program.

Corcoran established himself as one of the area's top junior golfers last year while competing against outstanding fields throughout the region. At the Met Junior PGA event at Wind Watch Golf & Country Club, Corcoran fired rounds of 72 and 70 to finish even par and third in a field of 60 players. He followed that with another outstanding performance at the Met Junior PGA event at Smithtown Landing, shooting a 2-under-par 70 to finish second among 80 competitors. The scheduled second round was canceled due to weather.

Corcoran also turned in an impressive performance at the NYC Championship, opening with a 5-under-par 67 before shooting 74 in the second round to finish tied for 11th in a field of 82. At the NY 18U Championship, Corcoran recorded rounds of 75, 71 and 75, finishing tied for 21st among 120 competitors. Adding to an already impressive list of accomplishments, Corcoran qualified for Team Long Island in the Tommy Kuhn Cup, further establishing himself among the region's top junior golfers.

Donaghy has also dedicated himself to developing his game outside of the high school season, competing in multiple events on both the Met PGA Junior Tour and Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. His involvement in golf extends beyond tournament competition. Donaghy has also worked at a golf camp at the Huntington Crescent Club, helping teach and introduce the game to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 12. His work with younger players demonstrates the same commitment to the game, leadership and sportsmanship that he brings to the Blue Devils.

While Corcoran and Donaghy now know where their golf careers will take them after Huntington, both still have plenty they hope to accomplish as Blue Devils. The two will lead a talented and experienced Huntington squad into the regular season with the ultimate goal of capturing league, conference and Suffolk County championships. Individually, both players will also be vying for spots on the Suffolk County state team. The top nine finishers in Suffolk County earn the opportunity to advance and represent the county at the New York State Championships.

“Jack and Will have worked extremely hard to get to this point, and we couldn't be prouder of them,” Huntington head coach Mike Marinello said. “Playing Division I golf is an incredible accomplishment, but I know neither one of them is satisfied yet. They have represented Huntington golf the right way, and they both want to finish their high school careers by accomplishing something special with their teammates.”

With two future Division I golfers at the top of the lineup, expectations are understandably high for Huntington. “Our goals are very high,” Marinello said. “Jack and Will are tremendous individual players, but what makes them special is how much they want the team to succeed. They are going to be a big part of whatever we accomplish this season.”

For Corcoran and Donaghy, their Division I commitments represent the reward for years of hard work and dedication to the game. But before they trade their Huntington colors for Fordham and Stonehill, the two Blue Devils have unfinished business — and a championship run they hope to make together.

“I particularly like the ‘unfinished business’ ending,” Marinello said. “It makes the story about more than their college commitments—it sets up the 2026 Huntington season and the pursuit of the league, conference and county championships.
