Seven Seniors Lead Huntington Golf

The Huntington High School boys’ golf team enters the 2026 season with high expectations and one of the most experienced lineups in the program’s recent history.

The Blue Devils feature an all-senior roster of seven golfers, including Jack Corcoran, Will Donaghy, Brady LaCosta, Graham Gooch, Joe Perotti, Luke Lomler and Michael Tucker. Corcoran, Donaghy and LaCosta will serve as captains for head coach Mike Marinello and volunteer assistant coach Bob Colvin.

“This is a very seasoned and talented team,” Marinello said. “These seven seniors have put a tremendous amount of time into their games and they understand what it takes to compete at a high level. Our goals are certainly high. We want to compete for a league championship, a conference championship and ultimately put ourselves in position to compete for a county title.”

Corcoran enters his final high school season following an outstanding summer of tournament golf and with designs on continuing his career at the collegiate level. The defending Conference I individual champion consistently found himself near the top of strong tournament fields throughout the summer.

At a Met Junior PGA tournament at Wind Watch, Corcoran fired rounds of 72 and 70, finishing even par and third in a field of 60 golfers. At Smithtown Landing, Corcoran shot a two-under-par 70, good for second place among 80 competitors. The scheduled second round was canceled due to weather.

Corcoran continued his strong play at the New York city Championships, where he posted rounds of 67 and 74 to finish tied for 11th in an 82-player field. At the New York 18U Championships, he recorded rounds of 75, 71 and 75, finishing tied for 21st among 120 competitors. His summer was further highlighted by qualifying for Team Long Island for the Tommy Kuhn Cup. The extensive tournament schedule has been part of Corcoran’s preparation for his final season as a Blue Devil and his goal of playing golf at the collegiate level.

Fellow senior Will Donaghy enters the season having already securing an opportunity to continue his golf career beyond Huntington. He recently committed to play Division I golf at Stonehill College, a significant accomplishment for both Donaghy and the Huntington golf program.

With Donaghy already committed to Stonehill and Corcoran hoping to follow him into the college ranks, the Blue Devils have a formidable combination at the top of their lineup.

Brady LaCosta enters his senior season playing some of the best golf of his career. He advanced to the semifinals of the Huntington Crescent Club Junior Club Championship and fired a career-low 76 in junior competition.

Graham Gooch also gained valuable tournament experience during the off-season. Gooch shot an 85 in the Crab Meadow Tournament, highlighted by an impressive 38 on the back nine. His strong finish demonstrated the type of scoring ability Huntington will be counting on throughout the fall.

Joe Perotti enjoyed a strong summer of his own, finishing third in a Met PGA tournament at West Sayville with a score of 80.

Luke Lomler and Michael Tucker round out Huntington’s seven-player senior roster and will be counted on to contribute to what the coaching staff believes is one of the deepest Blue Devil teams in recent years.

Blue Devils Have Championship Goals

With seven seniors and extensive competitive experience throughout the lineup, Huntington isn't shying away from setting ambitious goals. The Blue Devils believe they have the talent and depth to vie for league, Conference I and Suffolk County championships.

“This group has been around the program for a long time, and they know what is expected of them,” Marinello said. “There is a lot of experience on this team, but experience alone doesn’t win matches. We have to go out every day, stay focused and compete. If we do that, I believe we have a team that can compete with anyone in Suffolk County.”

Huntington opened the season with a dominating win over Connetquot at the Holbrook Country Club. A challenging regular-season schedule will prepare the Blue Devils for the Conference I Tournament and, they hope, a deep postseason run.

As Huntington prepares for what it hopes will be a special season, the program is also grateful for the tremendous support it has received from the local golf community.

The Huntington Crescent Club has traditionally served as the Blue Devils’ home course, and the team remains deeply appreciative of Head Golf Professional Patrick McCarthy and the Crescent Club membership for their longstanding generosity and support of Huntington golf.

With renovations to the Crescent Club course limiting its ability to host the team this season, Huntington Country Club and Indian Hills Country Club have stepped in to help the Blue Devils secure home match dates.

“We are extremely fortunate to have such tremendous support from the golf community in Huntington,” Marinello said. “The Crescent Club has been a wonderful home for our program for many years, and Patrick McCarthy and the membership have always been incredibly supportive. With the course undergoing renovations, Huntington Country Club and Indian Hills stepped up to help us with home matches. We are very grateful to all three clubs for what they have done for our players and our program.”

There is something particularly meaningful about this season for Huntington. All seven players are seniors. There is no next year for this group wearing the Blue Devil uniform. They enter the fall with years of experience, a summer filled with competitive golf and a shared belief that they can accomplish something special.

For Corcoran, Donaghy, LaCosta, Gooch, Perotti, Lomler and Tucker, the 2026 season represents one final run together — and an opportunity to leave their mark on the Huntington golf program.
