Grade 2 Mathematicians: Learning Geometry Through Hands-On Fun
October 27, 2026
Jefferson second graders in Mrs. Hiscox’s class became hands-on mathematicians as they explored geometry through engaging, interactive activities. Students played “Bump”, a fun math game that encouraged them to practice their skills while learning alongside their classmates.
They also participated in “Shape It Up”, where they used play dough and toothpicks to build three-dimensional shapes. As they connected the materials to form their models, students explored the properties of shapes and strengthened their understanding of geometric concepts. These hands-on activities brought math to life, encouraging students to think critically, solve problems, and build their geometry skills through collaboration and creativity. Our young mathematicians proved that learning math can be both meaningful and fun.
