Nominated by Woodhull Intermediate School Principal Stephanie Campbell, Ms. Guzman-Lewis is known for her infectious smile, welcoming personality, and commitment to the well-being of students and families.

Ms. Guzman-Lewis began her career in the Huntington School District on September 1, 2021, when she was appointed as a school social worker. Before joining Huntington, Ms. Guzman-Lewis developed an extensive background in social work, mental health services, crisis intervention, and family support. Her professional experience includes serving as an emergency department social worker at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she provided counseling, crisis intervention, and critical assistance to patients and families facing challenging circumstances. She also worked with The New York Foundling, providing therapeutic services to children and families, and gained school-based social work experience at Albert Einstein Academy in New Jersey.

Ms. Guzman-Lewis earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice in 2009 and her Master of Social Work, with a concentration in Clinical Social Work, from Rutgers University in 2014. She is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker and holds certification as a New York State School Social Worker.

In her role at Jack Abrams and Woodhull Intermediate Schools, Ms. Guzman-Lewis works closely with students, families, teachers, and administrators to address social-emotional needs, navigate challenges, and foster positive school experiences. Her professional background allows her to approach a wide range of situations with understanding, sound judgment, and a student-centered perspective.

Additionally, Ms. Guzman-Lewis has served as a written translation provider for both intermediate schools since joining the district. Fluent in English and Spanish, she plays an important role in strengthening school-to-home communication and helping families remain informed and engaged in their children's education.

"Ms. Guzman-Lewis is an incredible source of support for our students, families, and staff, always ready to listen, help, and step in wherever she is needed," said Woodhull Intermediate School Principal Stephanie Campbell. "She has a special way of connecting with students and families, making them feel comfortable, understood, and supported. Her kindness, compassion, and calm presence make her someone students and adults alike know they can turn to. Whether she is helping a student, partnering with a family, or supporting a colleague, she is always there when someone needs her. She is a true team player, and I feel so fortunate to have her as part of our school community."

Colleagues throughout the district have come to appreciate Ms. Guzman-Lewis not only for her professional expertise but also for her willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. Her ability to build meaningful relationships across both buildings has made her an important resource and a valued colleague.
