HUFSD Appreciation Day Celebrates Custodians and Buildings and Grounds Team

The Huntington UFSD community is fortunate to have a dedicated team of custodians and Buildings and Grounds staff who work tirelessly each day to ensure that our schools and district properties are safe, clean, welcoming, and well maintained.

Across all eight of our school buildings and throughout our district properties, these dedicated employees take tremendous pride in their work. Much of what they do happens behind the scenes, but their impact is felt by our students, staff, families, and visitors every day. From maintaining classrooms, hallways, offices, athletic spaces, and common areas to addressing repairs, preparing facilities for events, caring for our grounds, and responding to the countless needs that arise throughout the school year, our custodial and Buildings and Grounds teams consistently demonstrate professionalism and care.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rubie Harris shared her appreciation for the team:

“Our custodial and Buildings and Grounds staff are an incredibly important part of the Huntington UFSD family. They take great pride in caring for our schools and properties, and they understand that the condition of our facilities has a direct impact on the experience of our students and staff. Their commitment, flexibility, and attention to detail are evident in all eight of our buildings every day. I am incredibly grateful for everything they do to make our schools safe, comfortable, and inviting places to learn and work.”

The work of these teams extends well beyond keeping our buildings clean and operational. They help create the environment in which teaching and learning take place. They respond when unexpected needs arise, and continually look for ways to make our facilities better for everyone who uses them.

On behalf of the Huntington UFSD Board of Education, administration, staff, students, and families, we extend our sincere appreciation to our custodians and Buildings and Grounds staff. Thank you for the care, pride, and dedication you bring to our district each and every day. Your work matters, and we are grateful for all that you do to care for the places our students call home during their school day.
