Huntington senior Jolie Weinschreider captured the SCOPE Female Athlete Scholarship at Section XI’s annual Nick DeCillis Awards Luncheon at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville.
Ms. Weinschreider was accompanied by family members, Coach Lauren Blackburn, Coach Meg Marinelli and Huntington UFSD Director of Athletics Jim Hoops. She was honored for being “best of the best” through her “athletic prowess, academic achievement and community involvement.” The senior has compiled a weighted academic grade average in excess of 100 during high school.
“Jolie is an exceptional student-athlete whose leadership, character and commitment to others truly embody the spirit of this award,” Ms. Blackburn said. “A five-year varsity athlete in soccer, basketball and lacrosse, Jolie has consistently demonstrated dedication, resilience and a strong work ethic. As a two year captain of the lacrosse team, she led her teammates with confidence, positivity, and integrity, culminating in Huntington’s first county and Long Island championships in over 30 years. She also captained the girls’ varsity soccer and basketball teams in her senior seasons. Her ability to bring out the best in those around her speaks volumes about her leadership and the respect that she has earned from both teammates and coaches.”
Ms. Weinschreider has claimed All-County and All-State honors in lacrosse; All-League and All-Conference in soccer and All-League, All-Conference and Academic All-County in basketball. She was the News 12 Long Island Scholar Athlete for October 2025.
“What sets Jolie apart is her character,” Ms. Blackburn said. “She is kind, genuine and inclusive, making everyone feel valued and supported. Jolie has a natural ability to make others feel comfortable and confident and she leads with both strength and compassion. Her positive attitude and sense of humor help create a team environment where everyone can thrive. Jolie is the leader that other players feel comfortable coming to in times of need. Even though she has battled through injuries and other adversities over the years, Jolie always perseveres and puts her team first.
Ms. Weinschreider has been recruited by Rutgers University to play on its NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse team. “There is no doubt she will bring the same leadership, integrity and positivity to her next chapter,” Ms. Blackburn said. “She is a remarkable student-athlete who truly exemplifies the values of this scholarship, making her an incredibly deserving nominee.”
