May 19, 2026

Eight talented Huntington High School chamber choir members were among the performers at the 17th annual Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration at the Suffolk Y JCC in Commack on Sunday.

Dennis McCook, Walter Lopez Martinez, Michael DiVincenzo, Jessica Lee, Caleigh Camarata, Avery Joynt, Lauren Dopico, and Emily Barba. Huntington Superintendent Beth McCoy was in the crowd cheering them on.

The Huntington vocalists were flawless in performing the national anthem. Suffolk County Executive Edward P. Romaine was also in attendance and was a keynote speaker along with Deputy County Executive for Health, Human Services & Education Dr. Sylvia Diaz.

I am very proud of the hard work the members of the Chamber Choir who performed very well in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage,” said Charles Colasanti, the Huntington High School music teacher who leads the chamber choral program. “This was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community and display the talents and dedication of these students.”

This year’s celebration followed the theme of “One World, Many Cultures.” The lobby was filled with colorful and unique clothing, fascinating artifacts and delicious foods. The auditorium itself was well decorated for the occasion.
