Southdown’s Winter Stars Celebrated

Southdown Primary School’s Stars of the Month for December and January were presented with Splash Awards after turning in standout performances in classrooms and all around the building.

Southdown Principal Jill Amott-Erwig said the youngsters were recognized for their overall effort and performance in and out of the classroom. The Splash Awards take their name from the school’s mascot; a dolphin, which is well known for splashing water on anyone nearby.

One Southdown student is selected from each class in the building for formal recognition at the monthly “splash” assembly. The school considers these youngsters to be its stars of the month.

December’s Splash Award recipients include:

Universal Pre-Kindergarten: Grace Kuhn, Duke Macerino

Kindergarten: Cristino Guevara Velasquez, Alexandra Guevara Granado, Riley Cuadra Chavez, Joviella “Jovie” Rotolo

First Grade: Harper Pacifico, Ariana Velis Figueroa, Christian Pineda Castro

Second Grade: Carlos Alfaro Gonzalez, Yolanda Lopez Rosales, Oliver Bransford, Grace Coby

Third Grade: Emelyn Jennings, David Aparicio Saravia, Jonathan Hernandez Rodriguez, Rubina Jamaluddin

Southdown teachers and support staff members are enjoying working with a great group of young people this year. The students have been learning and improving. They love their school and classmates and attendance is running high each day. Proof positive that the boys and girls are happy.
