Frank Lizzo Percussion Scholarship Presented to Daniel Simon

Huntington Blue Devil marching band pit section leader Daniel Simon is the recipient of the Frank Lizzo Memorial Percussion Scholarship. Mr. Lizzo’s daughter, Carol Anne was made the first ever presentation of the new scholarship.
A lifelong resident of Huntington, Mr. Lizzo passed away on February 18, 2025, at the age of 95. A proud Korean War veteran and former commodore of the Huntington Yacht Club, he was the co-owner of the Huntington School of Music & Dance for 44 years.
Mr. Lizzo was a member of Huntington’s Class of 1947. He was a Huntington High School Band Alumni member and founding member of the Huntington Community Band. In his younger years, you could find him out in Huntington Bay on his boat, the Carol Anne.
An Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and a Distinguished Senior, Mr. Simon was a member of multiple academic honor societies. He was a varsity letter winner with the Blue Devil fencing team and a New York State Scholar Athlete Award honoree for compiling a grade average above a 90.
Mr. Lizzo marched and performed on drums alongside his sons in the parade through Huntington village that celebrated the Blue Devil marching band’s 75th anniversary.
Mr. Simon will be attending Binghamton University. He is interested in a career as a computer scientist with a focus on cybersecurity.
