Five Seniors Participate in Late Year Signing Ceremony

A late school year signing ceremony recognized five seniors who have committed to playing for their respective college athletic teams. The ceremony was held after school in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium and included the five members of the Class of 2026 along with their coaches, parents and athletic department officials.

The group includes Jacob Guzik (Utica University), Gevonne Henderson (Alfred State University), Walter Kusterbeck (Southeastern University in Florida), Alvin Luna (Felician University in New Jersey) and Jordan Jones (South Carolina State University).

Some of the seniors deliberately waited out the process until their options became crystal clear. Others changed their mind from earlier tentative choices. Still others seized upon their best offer at this point in time.

Guzik plans to play quarterback at Utica while Henderson will also be on the football field, only at Alfred State. Kusterbeck will be wrestling at Southeastern. Luna will play goalkeeper for Felician’s men’s lacrosse team. Jones will be playing basketball at South Carolina State.

An earlier ceremony last fall recognized many seniors who made their original college athletic commitments verbally as underclassmen and confirmed them in writing as seniors.

The seniors came dressed in some of the apparel bearing their college’s colors, name, logos, etc.
