Huntington Students Celebrate National French Week
November 18, 2025
The 22nd annual celebration of National French Week and everything French was a happy and fun time for everyone at Huntington High School. The French Honor Society took the lead in developing activities related to this year’s theme: “Design your future with French.”
French students at the high school kept busy throughout the week. The activities included:
• A French Week installation in the main lobby with a Word Wall of French words used in English
• A French Honor Society P'tit Dejeuner bake sale.
• A crepe party hosted by the French Honor Society attended by more than 50 students. The fun included games, French music, surprise gifts, crafts and crepes.
• A daily French Fact on the Huntington High School’s daily Blue Devil Broadcast.
• A SLAM poetry workshop via Zoom with a Canadian slammer Élémo from Montreal.
• Students engaged in French with Ms. Élise Bégin from the Centre de la Francophonie des Ameriques “They asked Élémo questions in the target language about his life as a Slam poet,” Huntington French teacher Dr. Gina M. Trigian-Molvaut said.
• Élémo performed his SLAM La Richesse for the students.
• Élémo guided the students through the process so that students experienced writing a SLAM poem.
• Decorations in the world language hallway, including student posters of Francophone countries and the Organisation internationale of la Francophonie (OIF) values.
National French Week is an initiative of the American Association of Teachers of French.
