Fun at Jefferson School’s Book Tasting Event

May 30, 2025

The Jefferson Primary School community enjoyed an evening of discovery, connection and pure fun at a recent “book tasting” event.

“Families had the chance to explore new books together, learn about summer reading opportunities, and get inspired by the variety of genres offered at each table,” Jefferson Principal Valerie Capitulo-Saide said. “The visit from the Huntington Public Library was a highlight and parents shared how much they enjoyed the interactive rotations and the chance to dive into new stories alongside their children.”

One Jefferson School parent exclaimed, “We’re so grateful to the amazing Jefferson teachers for organizing this event; it was such a fun and meaningful way to kick off summer reading.”

Jefferson teachers and parents have always prioritized reading ever since the building opened in September 1962. The school continues to successfully teach students how to reach as well as developing a love for reading and books in general.

“A heartfelt thank you to all the Jefferson teachers for their enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication in making the book tasting a memorable experience for our families,” Ms. Capitulo-Saide said.

As the school year heads to its conclusion several calendar dates are noteworthy for the school on Oakwood Road. Jefferson’s field day will be held on Thursday, June 5. (The rain date is Monday, June 9.) Jefferson’s Moving Up Exercises for third graders will be held on Wednesday, June 25.
