Ms. Curtin is a Blue Devil field hockey star. At the time she was first elevated to the varsity she was the youngest player on the team. The teenager played a key role in the success Huntington has enjoyed in recent years.

“My success in high school has come from the support of my mom, dad and sister as well as my determination to never give up when things get hard,” Ms. Curtin said. She had been headed to Penn State University, but when the acceptance from the University of Michigan arrived, she jumped on it.

Ms. Curtin will begin her studies in Ann Arbor in January 2026. In the meantime, she plans to pursue various experiences focused on her personal growth. One of them will be interning as a volunteer guest clinician with the field hockey team at J. Taylor Finley Middle School next fall. She will work with Finley physical education teacher and coach Marissa Bergmann.

“I’ve learned to believe in myself and get comfortable with being uncomfortable,” Ms. Curtin said. “These lessons have helped me grow both academically and personally. One of my favorite aspects of high school has been forming strong relationships with teachers and learning important life lessons through challenges.”

Ms. Curtin has been an offensive powerhouse for the Blue Devil field hockey team. “A highlight of high school has been my growth in field hockey,” she said. “From being the youngest on the team with little experience to becoming someone who could lead, support and positively influence my teammates. These experiences have inspired me to pursue a major in applied exercise science.”
