Huntington GSA Club Participates in Town Parade
June 18, 2025
The Huntington High School GSA club participated in this year’s Long Island Pride Parade and festival in Heckscher Park. A crowd of thousands turned out for the event, which first kicked off in 1991.

Since its founding many years ago, Huntington’s GSA has been indefatigable in its quest to create a positive school climate for all students, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
Huntington High School’s GSA is a robust, well-attended club that attracts students of all walks of life. Club members provide awareness, advocacy and information for students and staff alike, which helps to create an inclusive school environment that provides for the needs of all.
GSA clubs across the country typically serve as both support and social groups. “We offer a safe space after school and try to make the school as safe as possible as possible for members of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Alexa Mazure, an event and PR coordinator with the Huntington High School organization. “We try and do outreach as much as we can as well as getting involved in the community.”
Huntington GSA club members and faculty advisor Sarah Hall were among those in the big crowd at the parade and festival this month
“We marched in the pride parade hosted by LGBT Network and we marched to stand up for what we all believe in,” Ms. Mazure said. “All of the members had a wonderful time and are very excited for the upcoming school year to continue our goal of creating a safe community for the LGBTQ community.”
