July 7, 2025

The Band Parent Association of Huntington has awarded Class of 2025 member Benjamin Soric with the organization’s annual $1,000 scholarship in recognition of his contributions to the Blue Devil marching band program and to music in the district in general.

BPAH officials Ivy Soric and Arienne Lima were on hand to announce the award at the senior departmental awards and scholarships ceremony in the Huntington High School auditorium.

A member of multiple academic honor societies and a Distinguished Senior, Mr. Soric intends to study mathematics at Hofstra University.

The teenager said math and marching band have played significant roles in his personal success throughout high school. Mr. Soric said these experiences helped bring confidence, providing the opportunity to come out of a shell and thrive in the school environment.

“Some of the most enjoyable aspects of high school have been great teachers and taking classes like music theory and band and participating in ensembles and engaging events such as K-Factor,” Mr. Soric said.

Highlights of Mr. Soric’s high school years include trips to Syracuse for the New York State marching band championships, serving as a math tutor, participating in honor societies, performing in the pit orchestra for the school musical and playing on the Blue Devil varsity badminton team.
