Renovated Blue Market and Blutique Opens at HHS

Huntington High School’s Blue Market and Blutique held its official reopening in its improved space in the building’s Cafeteria B. District and building level administrators attended the ceremony along with some of those who made the renovations possible.

“This morning we were able to officially open the new and improved Blue Market and Blutique space,” Principal Rochelle C. Brown said. “We truly thank everyone who has generously donated to this effort. A huge shout out to Mrs. [Patricia] Avelli and the team for all of their hard work and tireless efforts over the years in making this vision a reality. A thank you to the custodial staff for their help in getting the room together and also supporting the event today.”

The team included Gamal Smith, Maria Canonica, Kelly Egan, Alissa German, Kelly Trites, Marybeth Stahl, Dr. Erica Murphy-Jessen, Ivy Alvayero, Karla Sanchez, Kellie Lewis, Evelin Villorio, Darlyn Chicas Juarez, Emma Gutierez and many students.

Carineh Mendez, Anthony Addeo, Brittany Lopez Berrios, Frank Gagliardi and the high school custodial team also played roles.

The project’s mission statement reads: “The Huntington Blue Devils aspire to create a robust resource for community members. The mission of this project is to collect and distribute supplies, clothing and food. The goal of this project is to build a community network through partnerships.”

Recent contributors have included Stop & Shop, Huntington High School Student Government, Huntington High School Interact Club, Huntington varsity football team, Huntington Eagle Scout Christian Guandique, Huntington National Honor Society, Huntington high School faculty and staff, Goodfellows, Suffolk County Police Department, Harborfields Alliance for Community Outreach, Junior Welfare League, Best Move Fashion, Moonjumpers, Denise Glozek and Tri-CYA.
