Huntington Highsteppers Honor Seniors
September 30, 2025
Huntington High School’s competitive dance team, the Highsteppers honored a pair of prized seniors prior to last Saturday’s Homecoming Day football game at Blue Devil Stadium.

Seniors Kyra Larsen and Kymora Dorvilus were accompanied by their families as Highsteppers’ coaches Kristiana Salerno and Patricia Anson stood smiling and proud nearby.
The Highsteppers are a hip group with dance moves that can be matched by just a few. They are incredibly hardworking, practicing multiple times a week both after school and throughout the summer.
Ms. Larsen starts on defense for the county and Long Island champion Huntington varsity girls’ lacrosse team. Ms. Dorvilus also plays on the volleyball and flag football teams and is the vice president of the Blue Devil Varsity Club.
Ms. Larsen and Ms. Dorvilus were both on the field with their parents, coaches and the football team’s seniors for the festivities.
The Highsteppers entertain at halftime of football and basketball games, perform at the annual pep rally and at special events and compete in regional and national dance championships.
Late summer conditioning and practices kick-off the season, which runs through the national championships in Florida in February. Practices are typically held a minimum of two days per week during the school year.
The Highsteppers’ halftime shows are always thrilling affairs. The performances highlight the exceptional dance skills and athleticism of the team members and never fail to elicit cheers from the crowd.
Competitions feature separate jazz, pom and team performance components. The group has gained a national reputation and has won many honors over the past decade.
