Unlocking College Opportunities – Seniors Complete FAFSA Now

March 28, 2025

For many students, financial aid is the key to making college a reality. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first and most important step in securing financial assistance for higher education. Completing the FAFSA opens doors to grants, scholarships, work-study opportunities, and low-interest federal student loans—resources that can make a significant difference in covering the cost of college.

“The FAFSA is not just a form; it’s an opportunity,” said Dr. Ricky V. Papandrea Jr., director of school counseling and testing, K-12. “By completing it early, students maximize their chances of receiving the financial aid they need to achieve their college and career goals.”

Even if a family thinks they may not qualify for aid, submitting the FAFSA is crucial. Many colleges, universities, and scholarship programs use FAFSA data to determine eligibility for financial assistance. Additionally, some state and institutional funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, making early submission even more important.

Students and families are encouraged to visit www.fafsa.gov to complete their application. For assistance, the Huntington High School Counseling Center is available to guide families through the process. Don’t leave money on the table—file your FAFSA today!
