Huntington Bowling Program Makes Plans

March 18, 2025

Huntington High School’s bowling team has struggled since it was reinstated four years ago, but first year head coach Dianna Cazzalino has plans to turnaround the Blue Devils’ fortunes.

Huntington varsity bowling coach Dianna Cazzalino.

This past winter’s eight player team was captained by James Masler. The team practices and plays its home matches at Larkfield Lanes in East Northport.

Cazzalino is an accomplished bowler, having starred on her high school and college teams. Her plans to build a winner include getting Finley seventh and eighth graders interested in the sport. She intends to hold four intramural sessions at Larkfield Lanes in late spring for as many as 20 Finley students who she hopes will then like it so much they consider joining Huntington’s bowling program.

Masler, who will graduate in June, was the team’s best bowler. “James is full of determination and the drive to succeed,” Cazzalino said. “He is willing to give advice to everyone and is the pillar of sportsmanship with the other teams. His high game of 199 came during the team tournament at Babylon Lanes.”

The highlight of the season came against Harborfields when the team rolled a 681. “The team members have a lot of heart and are growing their skills tremendously. Madeline Francis was the high bowler among the girls’ on the team.

The top returnees look to be Kailyn Hanna, Jessica Lee, Kevin Rodriguez and Anthony Aguilar.

Cazzalino hopes that Blue Devil bowlers will take advantage of the significant discount Larkfield Lanes provides whenever they choose to bowl. She also wants team members to join leagues outside of the school team to sharpen their skills. There are also plans to purchase balls measured to the players’ hands. The Huntington Booster Club has indicated it will help support the team’s efforts to become more competitive.
