Huntington Students Learn About Online Safety
March 13, 2025
Students at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School and Woodhull Intermediate School learned all about online safety during presentations at the two schools by Suffolk Police School Resource Officer Jesse Levy.
The visits were coordinated by Huntington UFSD Director of School Safety and Security Jarrett Stein. “Some of the topics in the presentation included the dangers of social media, protecting your identity online, being responsible while online, never friending or accepting a friend request from someone you do not know, catfishing and location sharing, just to name a few,” Mr. Stein said.
Officer Levy speaks at schools across the county on the topic of online safety. “The students were receptive and engaging with the presenter throughout the presentation,” Mr. Stein said.
The youngsters posed poignant and essential questions to Officer Levy who said he was “impressed” by the students’ questions, answers and attentiveness.
After the presentation, the students and teachers expressed how “informative, important and eye opening” the presentation was.
“The safety of our students is paramount and the more knowledge and awareness we can provide is essential to their well-being,” Mr. Stein said.
Mr. Stein has arranged for Officer Levy to speak at Huntington UFSD’s four primary grade level buildings during the coming weeks.
