Finley Students Keep Rolling in Second Marking Period

Traci Roethel is a motivator. The J. Taylor Finley Middle School principal is a big believer in the power of positive motivation. She knows it can make a difference in the lives of students and propel them to new heights.
Finley faculty members try to inspire the seventh and eighth graders in the building on a daily basis. The efforts are proving fruitful as the school’s “On a Roll” program shows.
Finley’s “On a Roll” recognizes students who improved their overall grade point average by five points or more during a marking period along with those seventh and eighth graders who raised their grade point averages in certain classes by five points or more.
“Students who improved their grade point average by five points or more in a certain class received recognition from their teacher along with a personalized certificate, while those that improved their overall grade point average by five points or more received a letter home and a special reward,” Mrs. Roethel explained.
The award winning students were gathered together in Finley’s Blue Zone main lobby and took a series of commemorative photos with Mrs. Roethel.
The program is continuing during the third marking period. Students will to be recognized for raising their grade point averages from one quarter to the next.
Mrs. Roethel said that Finley teachers and staff members will everything they can to keep student motivation levels high right through June.
