Top Ten Senior Scholarships for Friday

Every year the graduating class at Huntington High School claims millions of dollars in scholarships, awards and grants. But millions more are available and go unclaimed. The College and Career Counseling Center publishes a periodic scholarship newsletter to make it easy for seniors to identify possible scholarships and apply for them. Over the next few weeks we will highlight 10 such scholarships to help increase awareness.

The Cirkled in No Sweat Scholarship: This is a $2,500 cash scholarship that can be used for any educational purpose, from books to summer camp. Students 13 years old or older must apply at https://www.cirkledin.com/scholarships/. Deadline is March 31.

College Board Opportunity Scholarships: This program distributes $5 million in scholarships annually. The more effort you put in, the more opportunities you have to earn a scholarship. Complete all six, and you’re eligible to earn $40,000. Scholarships will be awarded through monthly drawings to students of classes 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 who complete each action, i.e. building your college list. The Dreams for Youth Scholarship Program provides financial support so Long Island youth can pursue their dreams and aspirations. Their academic scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 is available to seniors to assist with costs at a college, university, private or vocational school. Students in grades 7-12 can apply for an enrichment scholarship to assist with the cost of activity. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to community service. Interested students must apply at http://www.unitedwayli.org/dreamsforyouth. Deadline is May 16.

Adventureland’s Helping Hands Foundation is now accepting applications for the Vivian &Tony Gentile Scholarship and the Sachem Dental Group Endowment Scholarship. Students must be seniors who plan to attend a Long Island college or university full-time in the fall. Students applying to the Sachem Dental Group Endowment must pursue a degree in the medical/health/ or science fields. Thirteen $5,000 scholarships will be awarded. Students should log on to http://www.helpinghandsli.org/ and click on Scholarship Fund to apply. The deadline for applications is July 11.

The Association of Suffolk Supervisors for Educational Technology (ASSET) is offering (at least) $2,000 scholarships to 10-12 deserving students who will be entering into higher education and studying fields that integrate technology. Interested students must visit here for a digital application. The application deadline is April 13.

The BP Community Scholarship Program is available to seniors who are planning to attend a two or four-year college and can demonstrate financial need. Interested students are invited to apply online at www.bpscholarships.com. Deadline is March 21.

Council of Administrators and Supervisors (CAS) awards four college scholarships of $1,000 each to children or stepchildren of administrators. The scholarships are based on academic achievement, school, and community involvement. CAS members whose children or stepchildren will graduate at the end of the current school year (June 2025) and plan to attend college or university the following school year are eligible to apply. The Dante Foundation of Nassau County will award several $5,000 scholarships to seniors of Italian-American ancestry who live in Nassau or Suffolk County. Students who have achieved academic excellence, participated in extracurricular activities and scored above average on the SAT exam are encouraged to apply. Each high school may submit four applications for consideration. Interested students can click here for more information and must submit completed applications to Ms. Bonilla in Guidance West. The application deadline is March 14.

Friends of OHEKA – Otto Kahn Awards in Music, Performing Arts and Fine Arts are scholarships that are available to seniors within the Town of Huntington who are planning to enter college or specialized training in one of the three areas above. A questionnaire, two teacher letters of recommendations, samples of work (CD, DVD, or photos) and a headshot photo is required. Applications are available here. The application deadline is April 11.
