Southdown Students Showcase Latin American Culture
June 17, 2025
The Southdown Primary School dual language program hosted a captivating event that took families on a journey through Latin American countries. Students spent weeks researching and creating presentations about the history, culture, and geography of various Latin American nations and were excited to share their knowledge with their families and school community.

The evening was designed to ensure that all families could attend every presentation. A carefully crafted schedule allowed parents and guardians to rotate through four sessions, each highlighting a different country. This thoughtful scheduling meant that each family had the opportunity to experience all the student presentations, regardless of how many children they had participating.
The event not only showcased the hard work and creativity of the students but also provided a valuable cultural experience for all involved. Families walked away with a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures of Latin America, thanks to the passion and dedication demonstrated by the students in their presentations.
“Southdown is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and the support of our community,” said Desire Lahoz, a dual language teacher and coordinator. “Events like this highlight the importance of cross-cultural learning and foster a sense of unity among our families. We look forward to more opportunities for students to share their knowledge and creativity in the future.”
