Anabella Fazin Garners Judy Menacho Scholarship Award
July 14, 2025
Judy Menacho was a great art teacher with a sometimes wicked sense of humor. When the longtime Huntington UFSD faculty member passed away in February 2021, it saddened her neighbors and former colleagues. A scholarship in her memory was recently presented to Huntington High School Class of 2025 member Anibella Fazin. It marked the fifth time the scholarship has been presented.
“Support from others has played a major role in my personal success,” Ms. Fazin said. “From family and friends to teachers, the encouragement received every day has made a lasting difference and it’s clear that getting to this point wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
“With a passion for design,” Ms. Fazin plans to study graphic design at Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. She was recognized last spring as a Distinguished Senior after compiling an exceptional grade average.
The teenager said one of the highlights of high school was being asked to design the music festival brochure as a junior and the cover of the 2025 yearbook. “Contributing to the yearbook team, painting murals for Art Honor Society and creating artwork that was displayed in school and featured in the 2024 Art Council Museum has all been meaningful accomplishments.”
Mrs. Menacho’s neighbors contributed money to fund an “art supplies” scholarship and thought Ms. Guba was very well deserving of a very special award presented in memory of a sensational teacher.
