Ava McDonald added seven points and 10 assists and three rebounds.

Northport rallied in the final minutes to throw the final outcome into doubt, but Huntington maintained its composure and made the shots it needed to put the Blue Devils over the top. It marked Huntington’s second win over the Tigers this winter and improved the team’s record to 12-5 overall.

Five Huntington seniors were honored during a pre-game ceremony. The group included Donaghy, Boyle, Sophie Carlson, Jenna Italiano and Kaylee Smalling. Head coach Perry Marinelli introduced each of the seniors, who were serenaded by their underclassmen teammates, who offered touching reflections.

The five seniors all took the floor together, starting the game and going toe-to-toe with Northport over the opening 16 minutes. Fans were completely engaged, rooting for their favorite team.

Photo posters adorned the north gym wall beneath the basket, commemorating the career of each senior. Blue and white balloons and streamers were attached to the bleacher railings. DJ Glenn DeVeau kept the atmosphere lively throughout the game. Sensational vocalist Josie Sullivan sang the Star Spangled Banner to the delight of the crowd.

As each of the seniors was introduced, their parents and family members were invited to come onto the court. There were flowers and gift bags and photos as teammates told the crowd what each of the seniors has meant to the Blue Devils.

Following the game, players, coaches and family members headed to the cafeteria for a party, featuring two different pastas, chicken, salad and desserts.
