On December 10, Huntington won at Northport, 44-41. Coached by Hall of Famer Rich Castellano, the Tigers are also 11-5 overall. Tonight’s game is expected to be a fierce battle as the teams eye possible playoff positions.

Huntington most recently topped Copiague, 57-46. The Blue Devils led 8-5 after eight minutes and 26-19 at halftime. Huntington created more distance between the teams with a 20-11 third quarter run.

Donaghy led all scorers with 22 points, including three 3-pointers. Madyn Kalb had 13 points and Ava McDonald added 11 points. Boyle scored nine points and Grace Gordon contributed two points.

The Blue Devils plan to decorate the gym after school. There will be a JV game between the two high schools at 5 p.m. Senior Day festivities are set to begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp. Remarkable senior vocalist Josie Sullivan is expected to sing the national anthem.

Underclassmen will speak about Carlson, Smalling, Italiano, Boyle and Donaghy in that order. Blue Devil head coach Perry Marinelli will start things off by introducing the seniors.

After tonight’s game, Huntington will have three games remaining in the regular season, including Thursday night at Newfield at 6 p.m.; at home on Saturday (February 1) at 12 noon and at Smithtown East on Thursday, February 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Marinelli is in his first season as varsity head coach. He is assisted by Alyssa Adomaites. Megan Marinelli is a volunteer assistant. Leah Morawski is the JV coach.
