Hard-hitting Huntington High School senior Timothy McDonald has been named to the All-State football team by the New York State Sportswriters Association.

All-State Huntington senior Timothy McDonald.

The 5’7, 165 lb. teenager played in the offensive backfield and as Huntington’s middle linebacker. “Timmy is a dynamic and entertaining three-year starter for us,” Blue Devil head coach Ronald E. Wilson said. “Most would consider him undersized playing middle linebacker, however, he was the heart and soul of our defense. He made all of the calls and put us in position to make the plays. His energy coupled with his talent and tenacity made it difficult for teams to run on us.”

McDonald rushed 46 times for 303 yards and two touchdowns this past fall. He also made 101 solo tackles, including 13 for a loss and he recorded three quarterback sacks.

McDonald was named All-Division in both football and lacrosse last year and All-County in football this past fall. He also has captained both teams.

“Timmy is a member of our Young Leaders mentorship program, where we organize food drives for local food banks and help at risk youth with homework help programs in our community,” Wilson said.

McDonald is a strong vocal presence on a team. His work ethic sets an example for his teammates. His will to win is obvious throughout every practice and game.
