Sabrina Boyle Leads Blue Devils to 10th Victory on Court

Sabrina Boyle dropped 14 points and Lauren Donaghy and Jolie Weinschreider both scored 13 points to lead the Huntington varsity girls’ basketball team to its 10th win of the season as the Blue Devils rolled past Smithtown East, 57-37.
Huntington led 13-7 early and the Blue Devils extended the advantage to 28-17 by halftime. Huntington outscored Smithtown East in the second half, 29-20.
Boyle added two rebounds and two assists to her 14 point effort. Donaghy had five rebounds and Weinschreider to tallied three assists and three rebounds.
Huntington enjoyed a full team effort. Madyn Kalb scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds and Ava McDonald had six points, 10 assists and five rebounds. Leigh Evans, Grace Gordon and Jenna Italiano all scored a point at the free throw line.
Boyle and Donaghy both had baskets from beyond the three-point arc. The Blue Devil defense was once again very effective in shutting down an opposing offense. Huntington has limited its foes to 41 or less points in eight-of-14 games and held opponents to less than 40 points in six games.
Huntington is currently 10-4 under first year head coach Perry Marinelli. The staff includes assistant coach Alyssa Adomaites, volunteer assistant Megan Marinelli and JV head coach Leah Morawski.
Huntington hosts powerful North Babylon today (Thursday) at 5:45 p.m. The Blue Devils will then have games remaining with Copiague, Northport, Newfield, Half Hollow Hills East and Smithtown East.
