January 15, 2025
Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School’s newest student leadership group billed as “The Agents of Positive Change,” is off to a great start.
“Any student that wanted to ‘be an influencer’ was given the opportunity to apply to this leadership group,” Principal Donna Moro said. “We are thrilled that over 80 students signed up.”
The first meeting of the group drew an enthusiastic response from students. “Under the guidance of Dean of Students Katie Reilly and teachers Shannon. Tafflock and Natalie Boccard, these students will meet monthly to learn about conflict resolution and to share their impact and successes,” Ms. Moro said.
Those in attendance at the initial meeting were given an Agent of Positive Change bracelet to mark their participation. During the session, Amira Ingram was appointed as the group’s president and Colin Kiernan was tapped as vice president. The pair was chosen “for their dedication and proven commitment to make STEM a welcoming environment for all,” Ms. Moro said.
Leadership development is an important aspect about student life at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School.
“We are so excited to see the ripple effect these students have,” Ms. Moro said. “A special thank you to Ms. Reilly, Mrs. Tafflock, Mrs. Boccard, Mrs. Blitz, Mrs. [Catherine] Juliano and Mrs. [Sarrit] Haik for their dedication to working with our students on creating a culture based on respect for all.”
