Blue Devil Golf Will Regroup After Losing Seniors

January 14, 2025

Winning the league championship and compiling an overall record of 11-2 was sweet for the Huntington High School varsity boys’ golf team, but losing six of ten golfers to graduation in June will force the Blue Devils to regroup for 2025.

Huntington head coach Michael Marinello is spending time planning on how he can keep the Blue Devils atop the league standings and how he can develop a team to challenge for the elusive county title.

Huntington will graduate Anthony Addeo, William Fallon, Chase Gadaire, George Mueger, Ryan Scanlon and Jake Severine to graduation. Current sophomores Jack Corcoran, William Donaghy, Brady LaCosta and Joseph Perotti are eligible to return.

Donaghy played his way to All-League and All-Conference honors this past fall. Corcoran was also named to the All-League team.

Donaghy played in the No. 5 position and went 10-0. Corcoran was ensconced in the No. 3 position and had an 8-2 record.

Marinello will look to the returning varsity golfers and the top performers on last fall’s JV team that went 10-5 to fill out the lineup. “We will be good,” he said. “If the kids play the Met PGA tournaments over the summer, we can be very good.”

Volunteer state licensed coach Robert Colvin assists Marinello with the Blue Devil varsity boys’ golf team. “We should be contenders for a league title and a deep run in the county tournament,” said Marinello about next fall’s prospects.
