Huntington High School is always striving to get students to reflect on their future and to plan accordingly. Consistent with this, school counselor Ivy Alvayero hosted a career spotlight on engineering in the School Heritage Museum.
Kamil Ali, senior vice president of operations and engineering at NexGen visited students for an informative discussion about his career, including how he came into the field and the education and training requirement for it.
“As SVP of Operations & Engineering, I thrive at the intersection of strategy, innovation and execution,” wrote Mr. Ali on his LinkedIn page. “With many years of experience leading complex engineering initiatives and streamlining operations, I specialize in driving efficiency, scalability and sustainable growth for high-performing organizations. My leadership style fosters collaboration and aligns cross-functional teams to achieve both immediate and long-term business goals.”
Mrs. Alvayero hosted the discussion and helped facilitate Q & A between Mr. Ali and the Huntington High School students during two sessions, including one in English and the other in Spanish.
“Mrs. Alvayero hosts the career spotlights monthly, examining different career fields for student to learn about,” said Ricky V. Papandrea, Jr., Huntington UFSD director of school counseling and testing, K-12.
“In addition to my corporate leadership, I am a licensed real estate salesperson in New York,” Mr. Ali wrote on his LinkedIn page. “This dual expertise in both engineering and real estate has sharpened my ability to manage high-stakes projects, whether optimizing large-scale infrastructure or guiding clients through intricate real estate transactions.”
