Diverse student interests are enhancing life around Huntington High School as classmates encourage and motivate one another to strive to achieve their goals while reaching for their dreams.

One by one, academic honor societies have been holding their induction ceremonies throughout the fall and winter. Science Honor Society members were asked to list their career interests as well as what they love about science. The answers are fascinating.

Elizabeth Waters hopes to become an Earth science teacher. She loves STEM “because it gives you an insight into what is happening in and around you,” she said.

Daniel Simon intends to become a computer scientist with a focus on cybersecurity. He especially enjoys that almost everything learned [in science] is important and useable and having some freedom to figure things out on his own.

Cameron Smith is another teacher in the making. She loves science because she finds biology and chemistry very interesting and fun to learn about.

Ella Van Horn intends to study life sciences and go on to medical school in preparation for a career as a doctor. She loves most things about STEM, specifically anatomy and the mysteries of the human body.

Quinn Rinaldi is planning to be a scientist. He said he loves STEM because of the different labs and experiments.

Kai Rotunno intends to become an anesthesiologist. He loves that science has real world everyday applications and you learn how and why things happen and how they work.

Luke Lomler hopes to become an engineer. He loves that science allows him to know more about the world and why certain things happen.

Giovanna Lanfranco has been thinking about pursuing a career in psychology. She loves how science can be challenging.

Ruby Hoffman plans to study chemistry or biology as either relates to medicine. She loves science, particularly chemistry/biology because she finds it interesting to understand the meaning behind how things work.

Amani Huq intends to pursue a career in the medical field. She finds psychiatry very interesting. She loves both biology and chemistry. She is intrigued with the say chemistry works and the process of solving equations. With biology, she loves learning about what “our own body is capable of,” she said.
