Woodhull School is Filled with Excitement

January 6, 2025

Woodhull Intermediate School students came into the new year of 2025 with the same enthusiasm they have been known for since the building first opened in January 1967.

December was full of excitement at Woodhull and the month and year wrapped up on a high note. “We celebrated our Eagles of the Month, enjoyed the Reindeer Games and came together for a festive whole-school holiday sing-along,” Principal Stephanie Campbell said.

December’s Eagle of the Month honorees (listed below) “demonstrated acceptance through acts of kindness, welcoming new students, helping classmates, inviting others to play at recess, and fostering an inclusive school community,” Ms. Campbell said. “Students and staff were recognized for their efforts during our monthly Eagle assembly.”

The honorees include:

Fourth grade: Yared Lopez Maradiaga, William Yoda, Ziara Guardado, Sofia Vasquez Ibarra, Sasha Sowyrda, Anya Sether-Canle

Fifth grade: Zuri Greene, Edras Garcia Reyes, Hailey Chang, Angelli Velasquez Lopez, August Iervolino, Kaylee Becker, William Guandique Saravia, Jaime Menjivar Jr.

Sixth grade: Maeve Frintzilas, Zoe Bonilla, Jacob Arelt, Juliet Grijalva de la Cruz, Valerie Soriano Coreas, Nevaeh Adames

Staff: Justine Johnson, Jason Suarez

The new year has also brought about a renewed focus at Woodhull. “As we enter January, we’re focusing on the trait of responsibility; encouraging everyone to reflect on their actions and make positive choices,” Ms. Campbell said.

The Reindeer Games brought fun to Woodhull in late December with staff members engaging in friendly challenges while students cheered them on and kept score. “The energy in the gymnasium was truly infectious,” Ms. Campbell added.

Woodhull’s cherished tradition of the whole-school holiday sing-along was led by sixth grader Samantha Graber, with support from sixth grade chorus members. “It was a beautiful and joyful way to end the month,” Ms. Campbell said.

Students, parents, teachers and support staff; everyone at Woodhull expects 2025 to be spectacular in every conceivable way. “We’re looking forward to continuing the fun and excitement at Woodhull in the new year,” Ms. Campbell said.
