Huntington JV Boys’ Basketball Wraps Up Season

February 27, 2025

The Huntington High School junior varsity boys’ basketball team wrapped up its season and players are now looking ahead to next winter. Off-season workouts are about to begin.

The 15 player team was captained by Brendan McNulty and Michael Tucker and coached by high school teacher Malcolm Eugene.

The Blue Devils received especially strong play from four sophomores, including Shates Miller, Robbie Campbell, Michael Tucker and Brendan McNulty.

“Shates learned how to be a leader,” Eugene said. “Robbie worked hard and displayed resiliency. Michael is a hardworking and gritty player with a great attitude. Brendan is the heart and soul of the team; a true leader.

The highlight of the season came when Huntington toppled Northport on its home court late in the season, 59-56.

The JV roster also included Cameron Batts, Giankarlos Bracero, Jack Corcoran, Micah Cummings, Jeremiah Dasque DeLeon, Timothy Hardge, Gannon Johnson, James Markotsis, Jory Morgan-Page, Marco Antonio Salas and Marcus Stricklin.

Huntington participated in a mid-season tournament at Walt Whitman and placed fourth. The team frequently held an early advantage or even a halftime lead, but was often unable to hold on for victory.

Eugene expects most if not all of the team to return next winter to play on either the JV or varsity level. “It was a great group of young men who had fun playing alongside each other,” the coach said.
