Washington School Celebrates a Week of Kindness & Love
February 24, 2025
Washington Primary School recently marked a milestone in the academic year with a weeklong celebration filled with learning, kindness, love and community spirit.

Washington combined three special occasions; the 100th Day of School, P.S. I Love You Day and Valentine’s Day to create an engaging and meaningful experience for students, staff and families.
100 Days Smarter!
The week kicked off with 100th Day of School Kindness Bootcamp, a special moment in the school year that celebrates students’ progress and achievements. “Washington Winners” engaged in math activities focused on the number 100, including counting challenges, pattern-making, and creative projects that showcased their growing skills.
Spreading Kindness on P.S. I Love You Day
As part of P.S. I Love You Day, students began the week with a kindness challenge. Students participated in writing activities centered around kindness and positivity. They wrote heartfelt letters to friends, teachers and family members, emphasizing the importance of spreading love and encouragement. The school also held discussions on mental health awareness, teaching students that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
“The hallways were decorated with purple, the official color of P.S. I Love You Day, as a reminder of the school’s commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone,” Principal Michelle J. Richards said.
Valentine’s Day: A Celebration of Friendship and Love
Valentine’s Day brought another layer of excitement, with students exchanging cards and participating in activities that reinforced the importance of friendship and appreciation. Classrooms were filled with arts and crafts, themed writing exercises and group games that encouraged teamwork and gratitude.
A Week to Remember
Throughout the week, students engaged in a variety of math challenges, literacy activities, and games that reinforced academic skills while celebrating the themes of love and kindness. Teachers incorporated discussions about inclusivity, empathy and the power of positive words, making the week not only fun, but also deeply meaningful.
“Washington Primary School’s celebration of these three special days was a reminder that education goes beyond academics,” Dr. Richards said. “It’s also about fostering a strong community where kindness, encouragement and learning go hand in hand.”
